Near 2024: True Blockchain Strength and Self-Sovereignty - Why Colossus Stands in Support
Colossus joined forces with NEAR, forging and building a shared Vision for ethical tech futures and the decentralized evolution of the tech landscape
Since its inception in 2020, NEAR has consistently enhanced its user experience, technical capabilities, and fostered the development of a robust community dedicated to supporting the project at every stage. As of January 2024, the NEAR landscape has undergone significant transformations, with much credit due to the quality of the underlying code powering the blockchain and the innovative concept driving its growth.
Looking ahead to 2024, the NEAR Foundation has exciting upgrades and announcements in store for its users. At Colossus, we envision the overall strength of the NEAR Blockchain, encompassing a cutting-edge technology that maintains its position at the forefront of the web3.0 World, spanning development and financial domains.
To better understand this, consider that four out of DappRadar's top ten apps within the entire Web3 ecosystem are constructed on the NEAR Protocol, with daily active users consistently surpassing a million.
Near Paradigm Shift
Despite our daily reliance on phones and computers for convenience, we often prioritize this over self-sovereignty due to the lack of viable alternatives until now.
The economics of tech companies inevitably lead to compromising their original product or vision for profit, prioritizing growth while creating barriers.
Similarly, governments, in their pursuit of maintaining power, often resort to exerting pressure and deploying ingenuity to control their populations, sometimes violating human rights under the pretext of safety or security.
NEAR wants to establish new economic opportunities worldwide through self-sovereignty, a right that should be universally recognized and is now achievable through technology, unlike most other historical periods where it was limited to nation-states. While citizens of economically secure nations with a high degree of sovereignty may not perceive this as an immediate concern, it is crucial.
Colossus and Near: Sharing Visions
In their vision, NEAR evolves into a fully sovereign operating system featuring a personal AI assistant that optimizes user needs while safeguarding private information. This system facilitates peer-to-peer interactions and transactions among user-owned AIs, nurturing a network of decentralized, user-controlled AI.
The concept extends to community AIs, governed by their members and representing the collective needs and knowledge of various communities, from small clubs to nation-states. These community AIs operate on open-source software, emphasizing transparency, privacy, and user control over data.
As techno-optimists at Colossus, we share concerns about the trajectory of traditional tech paradigms and are dedicated to shaping a positive future. Like NEAR Foundation, we believe that the impact of science and technology is determined by human actions.
We love the idea of building a future where people can be more interconnected but at the same time free from every kind of virtual -and real- limit that comes along with adoption of new technologies.
Our enthusiasm comes from the belief that bringing connectivity should go hand in hand with preserving freedom. We embrace the responsible vision of the future painted by NEAR and its vision aligns with our commitment to a future that is both innovative and ethically grounded.
We want to conclude with the word of NEAR Foundation CEO and Co-Foudner, Illia Polosukhin
“We have the tools to remake how we provide for ourselves, how we work together and govern ourselves, and how we consume and generate information. Without gatekeepers, fair and open to everyone. And this is not a futuristic vision: it’s possible to start experimenting and building now, before our fragile and outdated systems and structures get weaker or fail, before too much centralization leads to the worst outcomes instead of the ones we all design and share together.”
Keep following us and stay updated as we roll through this journey together with the NEAR Foundation!
